Losing a tooth can be a very challenging experience. You lose confidence and feel that you have to hide your smile so others don’t notice your missing teeth. You also lose function, because you just can’t eat comfortably and enjoy a wide variety of foods.
Tooth replacement is crucial, and it’s not just a question of aesthetics. Gaps in your smile make chewing and speaking difficult, and the empty space creates room for adjacent teeth to drift out of alignment. Worse yet, missing teeth can ultimately lead to further tooth loss and deterioration of surrounding bone.
A More Natural Tooth Replacement Solution
At Glendale View Dental, we’re pleased to offer innovative dental implants, the most permanent (and often the most comfortable) solution for missing teeth. A dental implant is a prosthetic that replaces the root portion of your missing tooth. The design of dental implants allows them to bond with your jaw bone, making them the most natural tooth replacement solution available.
Dental implants dramatically improve your appearance and help you to chew and speak easily. With dental implants, you no longer have to feel self-conscious because you’ll be able to show off your whole and healthy new smile.
The Dental Implants Process
An implant consists of a very small titanium post that is placed in your jawbone by a highly trained oral surgeon. Since dental implants are designed to bond with surrounding bone, it prevents deterioration of the jawbone while supporting your natural teeth.
In many cases, we’ll restore the dental implant with a beautiful porcelain crown, but implants can also be used to stabilize bridges and dentures. The type of restoration we choose depends on your dental health, preferences, and budget.
Using dental implants, we can:
- Replace one or more missing teeth
- Provide support for a dental restoration like a bridge or crown
- Anchor a full set of dentures or overdentures
The Dental Implant Process
The first step in the dental implants process is a consultation where we’ll spend some time talking to you about your different tooth replacement options. A good candidate for dental implant placement should be in decent general health and have sufficient bone in the jaw to support the implants.
Once we determine that you are a good candidate, Dr. Baha will consult with a trusted oral surgeon who will implant the titanium roots into your jaw. The implant is allowed time to heal and fuse with the jawbone, after which you’ll visit us again so we can custom-craft your replacement teeth and attach them to the artificial roots.
We Work with Your Goals
In some cases, dental insurance will cover the cost of implants. We will work out the details of your specific plan so you know exactly what your out-of-pocket expense will be before we begin treatment.
Making the decision to have dental implants placed is a big step. We will take all the time needed to make sure you understand what’s involved and respond fully to all your questions and concerns.
